In NJ, suspect that any "common chickweed" with no flower petals visible could be lesser chickweed

There is another chickweed, pale chickweed, Stellaria pallida that can look like this, like a yellow-green chickweed with no petals on the flowers. I'm not certain it's present in NJ. This could also simply be a spent common chickweed.
