Pignut hickory (Carya glabra)

"Pig-shaped" nuts with "snout" at stem end. Shiny, thin husked, usually only split part way open. Usually 5 leaflets but 3-7 seen. Smooth stems. No shaggy bark. Small buds for a hickory, but they stick out from stem as in others. End buds usually light brown.
